Full day

Island Tour

Natural pools of Garapuá and Moreré, lunch in Boipeba and a floating bar in Canavieiras, all in one day.

What the tour is like

The Island Tour is a full day by boat around Tinharé Island, passing through Boipeba. It's the most requested tour for first-timers, because it shows the best of the region in a few hours: natural pools, nearly empty beaches, mangroves, a historic town and the sunset at sea.

It leaves at 09:30 from Terceira Praia. The local guide stays with the group the whole time, tells the story of each place and lets you know how long you have at each stop. The return to Morro is between 16:30 and 17:30, depending on the day.

If you only have a few days in Morro, this is the most practical way to see the Costa do Dendê: in one day you pass beaches, pools, mangroves and the history of Cairu.

The day, stop by stop

  1. Shallow, clear water in Garapuá
    Morning

    Natural pools of Garapuá

The first stop is in open water, over the coral banks. The boat stops, you step into the shallow water and swim among the fish. This is where the diving mask and the fish feed make the most difference.

  2. Moreré beach in Boipeba
    Morning

    Natural pools of Moreré

Already in Boipeba, the water is even calmer. A long swim, with time to float, take photos and rest from the trip.

  3. Boca da Barra beach in Boipeba
    Midday

    Lunch at Praia da Cueira

The longest stop of the tour. Cueira is a palm-lined beach with restaurants on the sand, known for its lobster. Lunch is at your own expense and you choose where to eat.

  4. Coconut palms and calm sea in Garapuá
    Afternoon

    Floating bar in Canavieiras

On the way back, the boat enters the mangrove and stops at a bar on the water, with fresh oysters and cold drinks. Drinks and food are paid separately.

  5. View of the island of Cairu, in the Tinharé archipelago
    Afternoon

    Historic town of Cairu

One of the oldest towns in Brazil, with colonial houses and the Convent of Santo Antônio. A short walk to see the historic side of the archipelago.

  6. Sunset with boats in Morro de São Paulo
    Late afternoon

    Sunset facing Morro

The tour ends at sea, with the sun going down facing Morro, before you disembark.

Itinerary subject to change due to tide, sea and weather. The skipper decides on the day, always with safety in mind.

Questions about this tour

Will I see the natural pools on any day?

No. They only form at low tide, and some days don't help. That's why we check the tide table before you pay and tell you if your day is good or if it's worth changing the date.

Does the boat rock?

In rough seas, yes, especially on the way to Garapuá. If you get seasick or have back problems, tell the agent beforehand so they can suggest the best day and seat on the boat.

Do I need to know how to swim?

No. You can enjoy the beaches and the boat all the same. For non-swimmers, we recommend a life jacket.

What's the best season?

September to November usually has better prices and emptier beaches. December to February is high season. April to June is rainier.

Can children come?

Yes, from age 2.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, sunscreen, a towel, cash or Pix for lunch and a camera.
